Sound of Fury Wins (again) at DED!

February 23, 2017

Sound of Fury (by Broken Vow out of La Concerto) wins (again) in his 10th start - a 6.5 furlong race at Delta Downs (DED) on Thursday, February 23!

"He got his Mojo work’n again in Cajun Country,” Fred Taylor (Mojo’s CEM) exclaims. "
The racing gods smiled on us as the conditions were right for Sound of Fury to put forth a strong effort, and he delivered yet another exciting Mojo racing experience!"

Race Recap

From the start, Sound of Fury was away quickly on the inside and he set the pace going around the Clubhouse turn.  Under the steady hand of Jockey J. Melancon, Sound of Fury led the pack down the backstretch along the rail.  Going into the far turn, Sound of Fury continued to maintain control in front.  Turning for home, all horses swung out wide and had to collect themselves at the top of the stretch.  Melancon quickly gathered Sound of Fury and the two surged forward.  By the 16th-pole, a fist full of horses were bunched up in an all-out, heart-pounding cavalry charge with Sound of Fury on the lead by a length.  50 yards to the finish, the favorite was trying to rally down the center of the track, and Sound of Fury’s margin was shrinking with every jump.  At the wire, Sound of Fury refused to relinquish the lead and he held on to win by a glorious neck!

In 10 starts, Sound of Fury has now won twice, finished 2nd once, and finished 3rd once—an impressive 40% “on the board” ratio.  With SoF’s win, all of the Runners in this Mojo Trio have won multiple races.  (Mojo purchased Sound of Fury, Left Coast Dreams, and Shez for You from the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and bundled them into one Mojo race group.

“To buy three yearlings and for all three to be multiple winners is a blessing and a fantastic accomplishment,” Fred explains.  “More importantly, it’s a testament to the good horsemanship of our Trainer (JR Caldwell), the quality of care his Team provides, and the acumen to place our horses in the right spots so they have a competitive chance to win.”
